New Release

“Roadside Attractions”, the brand new release from The John Torres Band expresses the absurdity and campy beauty of the signs and attractions that line the highways of South Jersey.

Recorded at Cambridge Studio, Philadelphia
Produced by Drew Taurisano/John Torres
Engineered by Drew Taurisano
Mastered at Sterling Sound, NY by Randy Merrill

The South Jersey Sound

Simply put, The John Torres Band is an American rock and roll band. And much like rock and roll, the band has its influence in soul, country and all-around groove music. Singer songwriter John Torres has assembled a band of veteran players whose credits include The A’s, Soul Survivors and Love Revolution. John describes his sound as “South Jersey” – acoustic guitars, a little slide, woodsy violins and some progressive soul voices that have spilled over from the Ben Franklin Bridge, eastbound to the shorelines.

I felt like I didn’t I belong in my high school. I mingled with all of the different “clicks”. I got along with the jocks, and the burnouts. Started the day on the smokers corner across the street from school property, then spent class time stoned, and trying to stay awake. Snuck off into the woods behind the tennis courts whenever there was an opportunity to do so. Hated most of my teachers, and thought many of the classes were a waste of my time. The best part of it all was participating in theatrical productions. Which, I NEVER would have done, had it not been for Mr. Oakes. Dear John, had been a freind of my older brother. So, He took special interest in me. Convinced me to join the AV Crew. Where I set up film projectors, And provided other technical support. Basically cast me in a part for the senior play that required a younger actor. “Our Town” By Thornton Wilder Then, “The Happy Journey from Camden to Trenton” (New Jersey). I loved being on stage. Being backstage with the senior girls was an added benefit. high school was the only place I’ve ever played guitar and sang in public, other than church. Junior year,Albert Mansis convinced me to participate in the Junior Talent Show. We put together a “temporary band” That only ever played one song in public. “Reelin’ In the Years” By Steely Dan. Featuring John Torres. That was the closest I ever got to fulfilling my ROCK FANTASY. Probably the the best five minutes of high school for me. youtu.be/xT_p69zhfEM
